• Photos: Images you upload related to flare tracking. These are stored securely and are never saved to your device's camera roll.
• Emergency Contact: Name, phone number, and relationship of your designated emergency contact.
• Caregiver Information: Email addresses and names of caregivers you choose to invite.

Automatically Collected Information

• Usage Data: How you interact with the App, including features used and log frequency.
• Device Information: Device type, operating system, and app version for troubleshooting.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide, maintain, and improve the App's core functionality — your health tracking and journaling experience.
• To generate personalized reports and insights based on your logged data.
• To facilitate caregiver sharing — only with caregivers you explicitly invite.
• To send you relevant notifications and reminders (daily entry, medications, appointments, weekly reports) — only when you opt in.
• To communicate with you about app updates, security alerts, and support.
• To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal or health information. Here are the limited circumstances where data may be shared:

• Caregivers: Only when you explicitly invite a caregiver and grant them access. You control who sees your data.
• Service Providers: Trusted third-party providers who help us operate the App (cloud hosting, authentication). They are bound by confidentiality agreements.
• Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or governmental regulation.
• With Your Consent: Any other sharing will only occur with your explicit permission.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

• All data is encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest.
• Photos are stored in private, access-controlled storage — never on public servers or your device's camera roll.
• Authentication is managed through secure, token-based sessions.
• Access controls ensure only you and authorized caregivers can view your data.

While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal and health data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time through the Settings page. Upon deletion, your data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

7. Your Rights and Choices

• Access and Portability: You can view and export your data at any time through the Reports section.
• Correction: Update your profile and health entries directly in the App.
• Deletion: Delete individual entries or your entire account via Settings.
• Notification Control: All reminders are opt-in and can be toggled on/off in Settings.
• Caregiver Revocation: Revoke caregiver access at any time.

8. Menstrual Cycle Data

My HS Journal includes an optional menstrual cycle tracking feature. This feature is entirely opt-in and gated by gender selection in Settings. If you choose to use it:

• Period start and end dates are stored privately under your account only.
• This data is used solely to help you identify correlations between your cycle and HS flare patterns within your own reports.
• Menstrual cycle data is never shared, sold, or used for advertising purposes.
• You can disable this feature or delete all cycle entries at any time in Settings.

9. Children's Privacy

My HS Journal is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy in the App and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
